Purpose means the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
I love the images that I share with this post. It does the best job describing how your gifts align with what your purpose is. Have you been wondering for some time – what your purpose is here on earth? If you answered yes, I can absolutely relate. I always knew that God put me here for a reason; however, I struggled with this question for a few years. Sadly, I knew all along deep down inside what it was but I was too afraid to face it. I feared that no one would accept me, believe in me, or support me. One day I finally woke up and said, everyone doesn’t have to accept me, believe in me, or support me. The people I am here to provide my gift to will accept me, believe in me, support me, and appreciate me.
Since I didn’t believe in my gift and allowed fear to control me, I wasted many years and deprived the people I need to help from my gift. After doing much soul searching and being still, I was finally able to articulate the following:
So if someone asked me what I do? My response would be:
I help people transform their thinking by realizing troubles don’t last.
I am Natashia Brewer and I am a songwriting and music producer who writes song lyrics/melodies/compositions to inspire and uplift people who are going through difficult times. I let them know that they are not alone and show them that there is sunshine after the storm.
Do you see how definitive/declarative my purpose statement is? This is what you need to develop in order to live your purpose. First things first, do you know what your gift is? I determine what my gift was by thinking back to what I enjoyed as a child. Thing two things I loved were to help others and creating thing. I wrote poems and I created things out of paper. As time went on my poems became song lyrics. When I thought back to what gave me the most joy creating things or song lyrics, it was writing song lyrics. Now don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy creating things; however, now it’s creating things that will allow tasks to get done more efficiently.
Okay, let’s get started. Don’t limit your thoughts by being afraid of not having acceptance or support. I wasted many years because of that very thing. I don’t want that to happen to you. Listed below are the five things you need to know in order to identify your purpose.
Five things to identify you purpose
- Know who you are
- Identify what you do
- Know who you do it for
- Determine what those people want or need
- Know what they will get out of it (how they change as a result)
I am telling you this is the most foolproof and simplest way to define your purpose. Remember – you don’t need the support from your friends or family to live your purpose. It would be nice, but it is not a necessity. You were put here for your purpose, not theirs, so act like it. Stop living for everybody else. I am absolutely positive that you don’t want to leave this physical world failing to fulfill the purpose you were put here for.
