Things I liked

  • My company – who doesn’t enjoy a good date night.
  • The overall energy of the concert – the crowd was on 5000 in that stadium. Oh did I mention that I missed seeing the first three numbers. Salty (see below)!
  • All of Jay Z’s sets – surprise! He kept up the energy. The crowd went bananas on several occasions. But when he hit N—as in Paris, Clique, and 99 Problems it was a wrap.
  • The following Beyoncé sets – Run the World, Drunk in Love, Love on Top, and Single Ladies. Her voice was on point (she did a lot of runs to demonstrate her vocal range). Impressive. She is a performer. As you can see from the set list, her songs were on the lower end of the energy spectrum, but for the upbeat sets she performed.
  • The laughs – Seeing the people act a fool over the Jay and Bey was very entertaining. It made me realize that I don’t think I am a fan of any artist – lol! I say this because the crowd blew my mind. They were screaming, crying, running, people were taken out by ambulance, tussling for towels that Beyonce dabbed her sweat with. No, I am not doing all of that. I take that back. The only person that I may have screamed for was Michael Jackson (RIP).

Things I did not like

  • Traffic – everyone knows that my tolerance for traffic is extremely low. We were on the road by 6:30 pm (I wanted to leave at 5, but that just didn’t happen). We got to our section in the stadium at 8:50 pm – really! However, the company made it bearable (we talked, we laughed, we argued about the traffic and which way to go). NOTE: Since the traffic was so horrendous going, we left before the Halo set. We were not getting caught up in the crowd, and it worked out perfectly.
  • Parking – had to park blocks away and walk. What the what is that all about. I need door to door service – ha!
  • Missing the opening – so due to the traffic and parking situation, we missed the opening. Now the funny thing was seeing all the people starting to run towards the stadium when they realized the show was starting. Hmm okay, do you.
  • Seating – well the seats were crappy. Plus since we got there late, the stadium was packed, it was dark; so we stood on the stairs. I was not about to deal with it. I enjoyed myself better because I was not trapped between screaming fans, plus if we needed to get out of there we could (and no we were not the only people on the stairs). Going forward, any concert I go to I will be on the floor (up close and personal).

All in all it was a great experience. The concert further sparked my love for music (the power of music).  Music can inspire, encourage, motivate, and comfort – love it!!  Glad I decided to get tickets, against my husband’s wishes. In the words on my daughter YOLO! Be about that life and enjoy every second of it.

Best Wishes!
